Trumpeter Randy Brecker works with UIC jazz majors in this special open master class.
February 25 - Rabl & Schickele
UIC faculty perform quartets for clarinet, violin, cello and piano by Viennese romantic Walter Rabl and American composer Peter Schickele.
March 4 – Jazz String Quintet with Cheryl Wilson, vocals
Inspired by sources as diverse as Debussy and Miles Davis, this collaboration offers a perfect blend of classical music and jazz.
March 11 – Baroque Band
One of America’s foremost period-instrument ensembles, Baroque Band explores early 17th century Italian music with works by Cima, Castello, Fontana and Frescobaldi.
March 18 - Jazz Ensemble
The UIC Jazz Ensemble has been praised for its “great sense of swing and ensemble blend” and recently recorded its second album.

From Alm to Mozart, bassist John Floeter leads an eclectic program showcasing the most virtuosic and versatile sides of the instrument.
April 15 – Jazz Combos
Musicians in UIC’s jazz program study intensively with leading Chicago jazz artists. Hear these young performers in action.
April 22 – Sebastian Huydts
Dutch virtuoso, pianist Sebastian Huydts performs a program with a distinctly Spanish flavor, featuring works by Albéniz, de Falla, Soler and Ginastera.
April 29 – Lincoln Trio
Hailed as “one of the hottest young trios in the business” (FANFARE Magazine), the Lincoln Trio - Desiree Ruhstrat, violin; David Cuncliffe, cello; Marta Aznavoorian, piano – brings together performing experience spanning the globe, each member is an artist of international renown.
*This performance is part of the “Art of the Guitar” at UIC, a series of concerts and events throughout 2013-14 celebrating the many sides of this versatile instrument.
